Men's Ministry
At Calvary Baptist Church, we believe that having a strong men's ministry is vital to our church, our families and our community. We have recently re-focused our
efforts to provide our men with opportunities for spiritual growth as well as just having a good time together.
Weekly Bible Study
Our regular events include a men's Bible study that meets at the church every Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30. Past topics of study have included the book of Romans, Orthodoxy & Heresy, "What Can We Know about the Second Coming?", and The Sermon on the Mount. We are currently doing a study on the book of Acts.
Monthly Breakfasts
We also have a monthly men's breakfast that meets at the church on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. This is a good time for the guys to get together, share a meal, have some fun and also learn a little more about what it means to be a man of God. We are currently going through the DVD curriculum of Gene Getz' book, "The Measure of a Man".

Annual Retreats
This past Fall, we re-instituted our annual Men's Retreat. In 2005 we went to the Ligonier Camp and Conference Center for our weekend retreat. The theme was "A Life Worthy of The Calling - The Making of a Spiritual Leader" and our guest speaker was Joe Waresak of Seek First Ministries. We had a great time spending time with each other, learning from Joe, enjoying a time of praise and worship and making smores around the campfire. Saturday afternoon was free time that some guys used to play golf, while others spent some time photographing nature's beauty along the many walking trails, and still others just enjoyed a time of relaxation. We look forward to returning to Ligonier for many years in the future.
Special Events
In February 2005, we took a bus trip to Canton, OH to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It was a great time that included a football trivia contest with
great prizes like Ben Roethlisberger replica jerseys, Steeler t-shirts and Steeler hats. On the way home we stopped off at Cabela's in Wheeling and spent some
time enjoying the food at the café, the museum caliber displays and browsing around all of the outdoor items that us Western PA guys tend to enjoy.
And in March of 2006, 23 of us headed to Wheeling for dinner and a Nailers hockey game. It was a great evening of fun, good food, and exciting hockey. The Nailers
beat the Dayton Bombers and all the guys received free Nailers T-shirts. We're already looking forward to our next trip together.
