MOPS at Calvary Baptist Church

MOPS (Mothers Of PreschoolerS) is a wonderful support group for ALL mothers of preschoolers. The purpose of MOPS of Calvary Baptist Church is the same as that of MOPS International, Inc., that is "to nurture every mother of preschoolers by meeting her distinct needs to the glory of Jesus Christ."

MOPS is a Christ-centered, caring ministry designed specifically for expectant mothers and mothers of children preschool age through kindergarten. Everyone is welcome at MOPS. Whether you are married or raising your children alone, MOPS is a safe place to be a mom!

MOPS Principles

The MOPS ministry affectionately cares about you and strives to meet your needs by

  • Creating an atmosphere of encouragement and acceptance for all moms
  • Developing a sense of commitment to family, other women, church, and community
  • Providing opportunities for the improvement of leadership skills, contributing to a sense of self-worth and confidence
  • Promoting spiritual growth by engaging moms in the discovery that Jesus Christ is relevant to their everyday lives in a personal way.

When do we meet?

MOPS of Calvary Baptist Church holds their regular meetings on the first Tuesday morning and the third Tuesday morning from October until May.

PLEASE NOTE: When there is a fifth Tuesday in any given month, no meeting is held on this day. Occasionally alternate activities are planned.

How do I register?

MOPS of Calvary Baptist Church begins the registration process during the summer months prior to the start-up of the fall meetings. We continue to accept registrations until all spaces are filled.

A registration fee of $20.00 is required by MOPS INTERNATIONAL, INC. This is called your MOPS2MOM Connection. For this fee, you will receive all MOPS benefits for a full year, whether you are part of this group or move to another group. These benefits include a welcome package with books, videos, or DVDs, plus a subscription to MOMSense magazine, membership in the local MOPS group, and more. Even if you move out of the area, your MOPS2MOM registration entitles you to registration in another group. You cannot be registered for MOPS without this fee.

Weekly fees are based on the payment plan you choose. See registration form for fees and price breaks. We believe you'll agree the fees are very reasonable for all you get in the MOPS and MOPPETS programs.

What to expect in a MOPS meeting

The MOPS program includes regular group meetings with instruction related to womanhood, marriage, child rearing, friendships, finances, and the home, all from a biblical perspective. Small group discussions provide for open, honest sharing, deepening of friendships, spiritual enrichment, and prayer. A creative activity or demonstration each time promotes a sense of accomplishment through creative expression.

The MOPS MEETING for moms begins promptly at 9:30 AM with a hospitality/snack time beforehand. We encourage you to come early enough to enjoy a snack and chat with other moms before the meeting begins. Drop-off time for children in the MOPPETS rooms is 9:05-9:25 AM. Special On-Time Bird drawing is held at 9:30 AM. MOPS ends at Noon and all children must be picked up from their rooms by 12:05 PM.

The meeting format each week usually includes all of the following:

  • Food and Fellowship
  • Announcements
  • Special recognitions & prizes
  • Icebreakers
  • Teaching by our MOPS mentor or a guest speaker
  • Small care group discussions
  • Creative activity or helpful demonstration

Your children will be lovingly cared for by trained staff in their own age-appropriate MOPPETS PROGRAM while you participate in your MOPS meeting without interruptions. Childcare provided through the MOPPETS PROGRAM is for infants and preschool children and any children you homeschool. Sorry, but because of classroom sizes, we cannot allow you to bring children who are not yours that you babysit on Tuesdays.
