SECTION IV: CHURCH POLICIES - EMPLOYEES & WAGES
Purpose:
All employees of Calvary Baptist Church must subscribe to the convictions held within the Statement of Faith, the Church Constitution, this Policy Manual, and any standards contained in the appropriate job descriptions. If, at any time an employee has a change in convictions and/or moral lifestyle which is contradictory to these standards, such change will be reasonable grounds for release from employment
WAGES AND SALARIES
The Elders will annually review and propose any changes in wages and salaries of church personnel during the preparation of the annual church budget. The congregation will be responsible for approving salaries.
Employees are paid on the first and fifteenth of each month. Outside contractors are paid monthly. All employees of the church will be covered with Workman's Compensation Insurance.
Employees will be reimbursed for ministry-related expenses. Expenses for travel and petty cash are to be submitted to the treasurer for reimbursement.
Monetary gifts to employees are to be reported to the Financial Secretary as regular income.
Pastoral Staff will be limited to two weeks of speaking engagements per year. Any more than two speaking engagements will be reviewed by the Elders. The cost for guest speakers will be the responsibility of the Pastoral Staff after two weeks of paid leave.
Leave of absences will be reviewed by the Elders and approved at their discretion. The Elders will make decisions concerning payment for continuing payment for continuing education for Pastor Staff.
Only full time Pastoral Staff will receive vacation based on a calendar year as per their contract and as follows:
1st year 1 week if hired before July 1
2nd year - 2 weeks
3rd year 3 weeks
4th year and up - 4 weeks
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Guidelines for work submitted to the Administrative Assistant:
1) All general typing and copying work is to be submitted to the Administrative Assistant for completion.
2) To speed the work, it will be submitted as follows:
a) It must be legible.
b) Deadlines must be adhered to. Worship Folder information should be submitted by Wednesday night. Newsletter information should be submitted on the Sunday evening before the newsletter is due out. ("The next to the last Sunday of the even numbered months.) All other articles should be submitted early enough that the Administrative Assistant has a reasonable amount of time to complete the work.
3) I must have an attached paper stating:
a) The name of the person who is submitting the work.
b) The date the work is needed.
c) The number of copies or sets needed.
d) The color of paper desired (otherwise the Administrative Assistant will choose the color.
Colors available: Letter size - white, blue, yellow, green, gray, pink, salmon, gold. Legal size - white, FFF green
e) Work that will take more than one page must state how it is to be printed:
1) One sided only
2) Two sided
3) Letter, Legal, Ledger
4) Left to Administrative Assistant's discretion
4) Please check all work submitted for accuracy. It is not the responsibility of the Administrative Assistant to proofread your work for errors.
5) Requests for work, along with the paper described above should be placed in the Administrative Assistant's communication box.
OFFICE NOTES:
Because of the addition of sophisticated, expensive-to-repair office equipment, the church office will be kept locked at all times and the following policy adhered to:
1) Please do not rummage through the drawers, files and cupboards. If you do not know where something you need is, please ask someone who holds a key.
2) When you are done with your work, please replace anything you used (pens, scissors, etc.) in their proper places, put trash in the baskets, and see that you leave the office in the same shape it was when you entered it.
3) The church office shall not be used as a storage room for anything except what pertains to the office.
4) Any children who accompany their parents into the church office MUST be kept under control or will have to leave the office.
